Welcome to the Tech Leadership Lab: Shaping the Future, our community newsletter designed for visionary leaders, tech disruptors, and future shapers like you. Every week, we delve into actionable content aimed at empowering you to drive impactful change and collectively craft a positive future.

Edition notes:

  • ChatGPT Summary at the end of each article
  • There were some hiccups with the last newsletter. The email version got in some emails too late after the audio event ended. 😠 Also, there were formatting issues with some embed images and the hacks that were not displayed and looked ugly or with spaces; both in email and mobile view. 😮[LinkedIn plays very basic when it comes to obviously needed features. There must be a reason we don’t know or a conspiracy for the misbelievers 😊]
  • This 3rd edition should be fine, but please get back to me for any issues you encounter that make your experience with Tech Leadership Lab (newsletter and audio events) a bad one. We are in alpha testing to talk tech. Not even beta, so bear with me.

To avoid missing out please click below and ‘Sign-up’ for future event notifications.

Community Updates & Today’s LIVE Event!

Serendipity brought me an awesome recruiter, Cressida Stephenson with whom we clicked like it was love at first side. Since I’m working with men and not having the blessing of women, clicking with women is a big deal for me.

Cressida is already doing what I was shaping in my first newsletter, she identified herself through my words, we connected, and then met. You’ll find some great insights and what she is looking for while hiring for top positions in tech. Her personal story is very intriguing and inspirational. I hope she’ll be willing to share a little about it.

Tech Recruitment and Continuous Learning Synergy - Tech Leadership Lab - Shaping the Future

Now, when it comes to Jason Dumois , he is a good human with relevant experience and expertise. I have known him for a couple of years, and even though it’s not on his profile, he has extensive recruiting experience in tech. As a serial entrepreneur in EdTech and now the SVP of Strategic Partnerships at ELB Learning , he has a broader understanding of good and bad hires regarding their continual learning stamina.

🔍Hack 1: If you are stressed and overweight, you might not lose weight because of that stress – even if you are on a healthy diet. A high level of cortisol leads to fat storage and interferes with your metabolism.

Synergy of Learning and Recruitment

Recruitment and learning are not separate activities; they are partners in a dynamic dance.

The learning process invites innovation and fresh perspectives, whereas recruitment detects the potential in these evolving minds, placing them where their brilliance can flourish.

There’s a catch! Especially in tech, you want to assess the innate desire for continual growth. As a coach, I call this coachability and this sometimes confuses my clients at the beginning. Those who never had coaches or don’t know Eric Schmidt’s famous quote…

There is always wrong when coaching is the lowest priority. Coaching is the highest priority cause getting the humans right determines the outcome.

Eric Schmidt about coaching

…consider coaching a waste of their time or something that can be constantly postponed when things are good. Now those who work with coaches or are coaches have this reaction to such a thing:

What did you say about coaching?

Of course, we don’t show that face, but rather this one:

Nodding or poker face alternatives for outrage

Now, seriously, I have three main criteria to take on a new client, and one of the three is COACHABILITY. This is deeply linked to continual learning because if a founder or an executive is not open to receiving feedback in the form of constructive criticism there is no way it will be able to innovate, grow, or pivot the right way.

Such a founder is not ready in my eyes, or it’s part of the exclusive 2% club of psychopaths, sociopaths, and narcissists who cannot accept feedback because they are already perfect.

I don’t own the NO-BS Coach hat for no reason. It’s one of many, but it’s accurate. This comes in contrast with my innate empathy and intuition, but the magic happens when you sense situations and you mold accordingly.

Is Blue Pink?

Say It As It Is.

I suppose that most of us agree that we are living in a society where most people live a perfect life from a distance. Would you call it an illusion, illustration, fake, doesn’t matter. Now, it won’t help a visionary founder, an innovator who wants to succeed and leave a mark to have someone who replicates society and doesn’t state what others don’t.

Back to coachability, that’s a great measure for any new hire, not just for founders and CEOs. In tech you need to be super flexible and versatile, meaning that your work might be in vain or disregarded or trashed.

Not once, not twice, multiple times. If you do not see this as a learning curve and process to find the best solution where Ego has no say, you’re doomed to stagnate and derail others with you.

Now, let’s see what my esteemed guest will say at today’s show.

🔍Hack 2: Optimize your gut health. Your gut microbiome plays a vital role in your overall health. To keep your gut healthy, eat plenty of fiber and fermented foods, and avoid antibiotics unless necessary. You’ll have a lower blood sugar spike and crash if you eat fiber before carbs.

Perspectives

It’s also important to be aware of and respect particularities in people. For those who know me, I can be funny – sometimes – when you don’t expect it, but I always appreciate humor. That’s why I’m thanking Jonathan Frost for sending me this piece of Marvel:

British humor

Now, since Jonathan is British I believe we are good. Let’s double-check! Are we good, John Rainford FRSA FTLS ?

Each nation has its own limiting beliefs or on the contrary, empowering beliefs. Amazing, right?

I might be too subtle with my humor, but in today’s connected world, we can borrow whatever we want from other nations. The mind has neuroplasticity even as an adult and there are techniques that actually work. Meditation for sure is one of the most powerful techniques to live a balanced, pleasant life. Or you can tune up a notch and hop on a Hypno-Vortex Guided Meditation: On-line.

🔍Hack 3: Each spike in blood sugar brings you closer to sickness and death. Don’t have more than 1-2 spikes a day at any cost.

Tech News – A Cohesive Look

Tech is shaping the future in many ways, from the way we work and live to the way we interact with the world around us.

Tech leaders have a responsibility to use their power and influence to shape the future of our world in a positive way. By investing in long-term research and development, building diverse and inclusive teams, and using technology to promote social good, they can help to create a better future for all.

Tech progress and battles: two sides of the same coin

Evolution brings both progress and battles. Here are a few examples of both:

Progress:

  • AI investment: Amazon’s investment in Anthropic, an AI startup, could help the company improve its position in generative AI, a technology with the potential to revolutionize many industries.
  • Electric vehicles: Nissan’s commitment to selling only EVs in Europe by 2030 is a bold move that signals the company’s commitment to electric mobility.
  • Autonomous driving: Inceptio Technology’s autonomous long-distance trucking milestone is a significant step forward in the development of this technology.

Battles:

  • Antitrust lawsuit: The U.S. government and 17 states have sued Amazon, accusing the company of abusing its market dominance to push out rivals. This lawsuit could have a major impact on the future of Amazon and the tech industry as a whole.
  • Video game strike: SAG-AFTRA members have voted to authorize a strike for video game performers ahead of contract negotiations. This strike could disrupt the development and release of upcoming video games.
  • iPhone radiation concerns: France has received a software update from Apple designed to address radiation concerns for the iPhone 12. This update is the result of a battle between Apple and French authorities over the safety of the device.

Conclusion

These are just a few examples of the many progress and battles taking place in the tech industry. It is an exciting time to be involved in tech, but it is also important to be aware of the challenges that the industry faces. By staying informed about the latest developments, we can all play a role in shaping the future of tech.
